Cliffe Enterprise Ltd is certified to ISO 14001:2015, the international standard for environmental management.

Our Environmental Management System has been independently audited and found to meet the requirements of the standard. Certification covers our print management services, from brief through to delivery.

What this means for our clients

ISO 14001 isn’t a badge you can buy. It’s awarded only after an independent auditor has examined how a business identifies its environmental impacts, what it does to control them, and whether it can prove it.

For our clients — particularly in public sector and corporate procurement — it means the environmental commitments we make are documented, measured, audited, and reviewed at board level. When you place print with us, the credentials of the whole chain behind that job have already been checked.

How we manage our impact

Cliffe Enterprise is a print management company. We work from home offices, hold no manufacturing plant or company premises, and outsource all print production, finishing, and delivery to approved suppliers. That shapes where our environmental responsibility genuinely lies.

Our own footprint is small — and offset. Our direct emissions come from home office electricity and business travel in electric vehicles. They’re calculated annually using current UK government emission factors, independently verified, and offset in full through the Woodland Trust’s UK tree-planting programme.

Our influence is where the real impact sits. The emissions that matter most in print happen on the press floor and on the road — activities we don’t own, but do choose. We appoint only suppliers holding ISO 14001:2015 certification or demonstrating equivalent practice, and every active supplier is formally evaluated and reviewed against criteria covering low-VOC inks, energy-efficient press operation, waste and recycling practice, carbon reduction, and sustainable transport.

We specify better materials. FSC- and PEFC-certified stocks, recycled and carbon-balanced papers, recyclable packaging — and consolidated orders and deliveries to cut transport mileage.

We work digitally where we can. Online proofing, electronic approvals, and responsible print quantities reduce waste before a single sheet is produced.

Continual improvement

Certification is a starting point, not a finish line. Our system is audited internally each year and reviewed annually by the directors, with measurable targets set for energy use, travel emissions, sustainable paper procurement, and supply chain performance.

Documentation

Our certificate, Environmental Policy, carbon reporting, and supplier environmental documentation are available to clients on request — including specific evidence for procurement submissions or sustainability reporting.
